via Doron M. ~ "And here I am with my newly completed Epiphone Les Paul Special triple P90 project. new set of vintage Grover Deluxe, split shaft tuners, Gibson neck and bridge P-90 pickups wired to the main 3 way toggle switch, with a reverse wound/reverse polarity Epiphone P90 in the middle wired to an on/off/on phase switch and series/parallel switch, new chrome jack plate to replace the plastic one, and Switchcraft jack to replace the cheap Chinese one, was going to change the bridge for a "higher end" intonatable wraparound, but I didn't want to spend the extra time necessary to make it fit. So I did the setup with the stock bridge and found the intonation to be perfect as is! So the bridge is a keeper. Set her up with my preferred 11's, with that action at 1/16". The neck is slick and fast. She sounds and plays wicked. And she looks cool as hell! And of course, I had to give her a matching yellow leopard print guitar strap. lol. So my buddy Rick Harris sent me this recently acquired Stagg strat copy for me to soup up with better pickups, bridge, tuners, etc, and set her up to play and sound great. it wass a decent enough guitar as it was, with a nice playing neck, and gorgeous finish, but it definitely needed some personality. so I gutted everything you: pickups, bridge, tuners, electronics, etc, and replaced them with trisonic pickups, master volume and tone 250k pots, improved switching, including CRL 5 way switch, series/parallel mini toggle switch, and in/out phase mini toggle switch, replaced the vintage Kluson style tuners with a nice set of Schaller style locking tuners, plastic nut with Tusq, the original stock bridge with a better quality 6 screw trem bridge, set at just the right float for perfect tuning stability when using the whammy bar, and Graphtech saddles, oversized strap buttons replacing the small factory ones, and a full setup with 10's. This week's featured Cool Guitar of the Week repair is a1950's National archtop acoustic. This beautiful guitar was bought from the estate of the conductor that inspired the movie, Mr. Holland's Opus. It's a 1950's National archtop acoustic that Jean Pierre wanted me to restore. So I crafted a new pickguard for it, upon which I mounted all of the controls for the electronics that I also installed, which includes a Kent Armstrong neck mini-humbucker that mounts on the fingerboard end, and a K&K Dual transducer archtop system. I also replaced the crumbling tuner buttons with new white plastic ones of the same style. After all the adjustments and tweaks, modifications and customizations, this guitar plays and sounds fantastic! It's strung with .010 gauge acoustic guitar strings.

Doron: "This beautiful 40 year old Guild D55 came in needing the bridge, which was lifting, to be removed, cleaned and reglued, new frets installed, binding reglued, the finish on the back of the neck to be redone, since it had been ruined by a guitar stand, a strap button installed on the neck heel, and a full setup with new strings, tuned to DADGAD tuning, made famous by Jimmy Page!
